Assessment Services

A psychological assessment may examine a person's cognitive functioning (intelligence testing), psychological processes related to learning (such as memory functioning, auditory processing, visual-motor integration, etc.), academic achievement, and social/emotional development. An assessment may involve standardized tests, interviews, surveys, and developmental and school history completed in conjunction with the student, parents, and the school staff.

Children who benefit from an assessment are children who present with cognitive and/or educational difficulties, emotional difficulties, distractibility and/or hyperactivity, disruptive behaviour, as well as children who may be intellectually gifted.

The results of the psycho-educational assessment and recommendations are discussed with parents and, with parental permission, family physician, and the school personnel, if appropriate.
